Lesser Evil
(Kettle Corns & Krinkle Sticks) |
8/08 |
" When we developed both our line of Kettle Corns and Krinkle Sticks
one of our objectives was to make them gluten free. So for every
product we make, all of the ingredients used have been tested to be
gluten free based on the FDA's definition of less than 20 parts per
million (PPM). We have also conducted testing on our products after
full production by a third party laboratory to ensure they they stay
below the 20 PPM level. Our gluten free claim and our allergen warning
are both compliant with FDA law.
While we're confident that the ingredients we use are gluten free
and are vigilant in our production process to significantly reduce the
risk of contamination, there are other foods being made at the
facilities where we produce that have gluten in them.
The equipment on which we run our Krinkle Sticks does not run wheat
products, although there is some equipment in the same facility that
does (in a different part of the plant).
As for our Kettle Corns, we run them in a facility and on lines that
occasionally run products with wheat. BUT, for both snacks - Krinkle
Sticks and Kettle Corns - we have a thorough quality control and
cleaning process between all batches, which is standard for most snack
facilities and compliant with the FDA.
We will continue to monitor our products to ensure they fall into
the FDA's definition of gluten free. As you can see, we state on our
packaging that we produce in a facility that processes foods with
gluten in order to provide true transparency to anyone deciding to
pick up a LesserEvil snack." Kyser, Chief StoryTeller, LesserEvil Brand Snack Co.,

From the FAQ section of their website: Are your snacks gluten-free, why doesn't it say so on the bag? "All of our snacks except for CHAOS, Honey Wheat Pretzels, Veggie Tubes and Tubes are Gluten Free. Since gluten is used on other snacks at the plant, we do not put it on our bags. They run our snacks first, thoroughly clean the machines between runs, and train all the employees on allergen control to reduce the possibility of cross contamination. However, we cannot 100% guarantee that there can never be a cross-contamination. http://www.robscape.com/files/faqs.php#q4 |
