The Sensitive Baker is located in Culver City (in the region of L.A.). It is listed here because it the closest fully GF bakery to San Diego at this time. The
bakery is gluten-free, dairy-free, and Kosher-Parve. Among the items they sell includes breads, bagels, muffins, brownies, tarts, cheesecakes, cookies, cupcakes, and more.
The best way to enjoy their products, of course, is by actually going to the bakery. They have limited hours, so make sure to check their website for their current schedule. They are closed Saturdays and all major Jewish holidays. They don't bake all items every day, but you can order
ahead for pick-up.
You can also order items shipped (they are shipped frozen) from The Sensitive Baker. However, it is suggested that perhaps ordering the bakery goods to be shipped from www.GFmeals.com (by Your Dinner Secret) is less expensive and they are better equipped to ship at this time. The GF Meals bakery goods are all from The Sensitive Baker.
Erica W. strongly recommends the bagels and crusty rolls. 9/13/08
"We stopped off in Culver City to check out The Sensitive Baker and were pleasantly
surprised!! It is a very small operation, very friendly, and the items we purchased
were very good (a mini lemon Bundt cake, a peach crumble dessert, and a Brioche-like
bread). The Bundt cake and the crumble dessert we made do for two servings, but
the bread needs to be used that day (however, we kept the leftovers in the freezer
and will see if it will be okay now that we are home). I must say that their
products are expensive. They will ship next day surface, which makes them even
more expensive. They are really not set up for big volumes of business, but there
is the potential of doing so. Not only are their products gf, they are kosher."
