Both Elijah locations are casual delis. Elijah's has added a gluten-free section on their menu. It is not reflected as yet on their online menu or Take-Out menu. As of 3/25/09 on the regular menu it is as below:

"I got take out from Elijah's in La Jolla last week. I walked in and asked to order take-out and said I would like the Gluten-free Reuben to go. She said would you like corned beef or pastrami and after I answered she said would you like pasta salad or cole slaw with that. I said 'is your pasta salad gluten-free?' She said I don't know. A waitress walking by said you better get the cole slaw and omit the thousand island on the sandwich. I said okay. She said "That will be $15.17." I said that I only want one sandwich and she replied that is for just one sandwich. I wondered if maybe the sandwich was big enough for two and went ahead and placed the order. I waited about 15 minutes for my sandwich. The surroundings were pleasant and it seemed everybody was having a good time. The order came right out with a smile in a plastic bag.
The "patty" that they use for bread tasted like a cheese-less egg souffle/omelet. The sandwich was normal size just enough for one. The meat and cheese were excellent quality as well as the sauerkraut which is what the sandwich consisted of mainly. It was tasty and I did not get sick. I probably will not go back often unless I get a coupon or they have a half-price promotion or something like that." Mel from Encinitas, 10/09
