"The restaurant's slogan is "Spreading conscious eating for our health and the environment!" They state their restaurants are the "first organic, vegan and 100% raw restaurants".

"There is now a Cilantro Live restaurant in Hillcrest. I ate there today and not joking....AWESOMENESS AT ITS BEST. Everyone there said that EVERY item is Gluten-free, Vegan and Soy-free. And they knew about Celiac Disease. The whole place is just so refreshing and delicious. Major kudos to them." Kellie 5/5/07

"Sharon Kumpf and I had lunch at the Carlsbad location recently and were very impressed. They are all vegan, organic, and GF, with the exception of a sauce that is used on some of the items (they will omit this, if requested). We spoke with the owner (of all locations), Christina, a very nice lady who is really aware of gluten issues. I always double check about ingredients used in any item, but for now, there is really nothing (except that sauce) to worry about as far as gluten is concerned. We had a delicious lunch of lasagna (no pasta!), angel hair (again, no pasta!) and an ice cream dessert which could rival any I've ever had, GF or not! Everything is very artistically created using vegetables, nuts and/or fruits in a way which we've never seen anywhere. It is also a different experience in that nothing is cooked, since they believe that this may actually alter the nutritional content of food. All of it was so fresh and delicious that I went to the Hillcrest location for dinner the next night to enjoy another great meal, including delicious lemon bars for dessert. This location actually has a little more atmosphere than the Carlsbad one, but the food in both is the same, except that they currently may have more dessert choices in Hillcrest.
Cilantro Live is not what I'd call inexpensive (especially since there are no meats served, and one might think it's somewhat pricey for vegetarian), but everything is organic and time intensive to prepare. Most importantly, it's healthy and very safe for those of us with gluten issues. Their website is worth looking at, since it has photos of their entire menu." Michele Vargas, 5/28/07
