2Good2B is completely gluten, soy, peanut and corn free. In addition, dairy-free and and egg-free items can be specially ordered. The cafe offers hot lunches (pot pies, pastas, mac' cheese, quiches, soups, salads and more). They also serve hot breakfasts. The bakery offerings include GF muffins, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, seasonal pies, and several differents types of bread. Everything is available for both dine-in or take-out. Beverages include include organic "award-winning" coffees and teas, as well as fresh-squeezed orange juice. Beautiful custom cakes, including wedding cakes, are available for order.
Mike Barbanti (owner of the former 2Good2B online bakery) and Diana Mourato Benedek are business partners in this venture. Mike was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2007, and Diana found that the gluten-free diet significantly improved her health in many ways. "Since you have opened I have made the trek from Ocean Beach to Encinitas several times and each time I am more impressed than the last. However, never in my gluten-free life did I ever expect to be able to have a slice of bread with butter again without some sort of bread manipulation (toasting, defrosting, cutting hard edges off, etc.). I know it sounds totally cheesy but I was so incredibly impressed with the loaf of white bread I bought this past weekend, words cannot express it. I was able to have an almond butter sandwich, no toasting, no disgusting after taste, so shitty-gritty consistency. Absolutely amazing!
And then Monday came… we celebrated my birthday and a co-worker brought me a loaf of your Rosemary bread as a gift. It was the best bread I’ve ever had, gluten or not! My husband, who has no wheat/gluten allergies, was also as enthralled with it. It is so delicious and I cannot thank you enough for bringing such amazing, gluten-free products to us.
I have been searching for years for items I can eat without wheat & gluten and have come up short each time (with the exception of one Peanut Butter cookie that I make myself). Again, I can’t thank you enough for all of your recipes and everything you do.
